Abhinandan Hazarika, PhD student, joined III-V Materials and Devices group at Tyndall National Institute under the supervision of Brian Corbett and co-supervision of Dr Zhi Li. As a member of the Biomedical Theme at IPIC, Abhinandan is currently working on the design and fabrication of photonic integrated circuits for hyperspectral laser and super luminescent sources for tissue imaging, surgical guidance and associated spectroscopic applications.
Prior to joining Tyndall National Institute, Abhinandan was working as an Optical Research Engineer in Bioengineering R&D company, Tropical Animal Genetics-Jiva Sciences in India. Currently he is serving as a secretary of OSA-Optica student chapter for Tyndall National Institute.
His research interests include Optical instrumentation, Optical Metrology, Designing and Fabrication of Photonic Integrated Circuits for Optical Sensing and Communication, Waveguides, Biophotonics, Plasmonic Sensing, Optoelectronics, AR and VR systems, Microfluidic Sensing and Fiber Optic Sensing.
Abhinandan received his master’s degree in Instrumentation and Applied Physics in 2019 from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) where he studied the geometrical effects of noble metal nano-antennas on 2D materials like graphene for gas sensing. Apart from his academic work he served as a student representative in OCAAP for industrial outreach program and placements. Abhinandan received his bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering from Assam Engineering College (AEC) in 2015. He is a recipient of GATE scholarship to pursue higher education from Ministry of Human Resource and Development, India. Apart from that he has also received Chief Minister’s Scholarship for Meritorious Students and Northeastern Council Scholarship to pursue higher education.
Abhinandan hails from Assam in India and he likes to do abstract art and street photography in his free time.
