Abhinav joined Tyndall National Institute, as a Marie Curie Sparkle fellow under the supervision of Prof. Paul Townsend to work on application of distributed fibre optic sensing for marine environment analysis and structural health monitoring of offshore windfarms using different interrogation techniques. His research interests are Microwave Photonics, Optical Sensors, Optical Communication, Fiber Optic Sensing, Optoelectronics, and Nano photonics. He is an early career member of SPIE, OSA and IEEE.
Abhinav received his master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad (2016), and completed his doctoral degree from the same institute in Electronics and Communication Engineering (2022). His thesis title was ‘Fiber Optic Sensing and Its Applications’, where he worked on Fiber Bragg Gratings based temperature and strain sensors with different interrogation techniques. He is a recipient of SRISTI GYTI APPRECIATION 2021 award for his research work in Psychophysiological Monitoring of a Subject using Optical Respiration Rate Measurement System.
