Hafsa Hameed joined Tyndall National Institute in July 2024 as a PhD researcher in the III-Nitride Materials Group under the supervision of Prof. Peter Parbrook. Her research focuses on the “Development, Fabrication, and Characterization of Boron-Containing III-Nitride Optoelectronic Devices.” Specifically, she is investigating the growth of boron-containing AlGaN alloys for deep ultraviolet (DUV) LEDs, with the ultimate goal of fabricating DUV LEDs. These devices are critical components in numerous biomedical applications.
Hafsa obtained her Master’s degree in Physics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2024. During the Master’s program, she worked as a research assistant at the National Center for Physics (NCP), Islamabad, for one year. During this time, she contributed to a project titled “Development of Pulsed Fiber Laser,” which further enhanced her interest in photonics research.
