James joined the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in September 2020 as an IPIC student at Tyndall National Institute. James had just completed his degree in Physics and Mathematical Sciences in University College Cork, in which he received a first class honours. The focus of James’ research is Non-Classical Light Emission from Nitride Based Quantum Dots, under the supervision of Dr Stefan Schulz and Dr Emanuele Pelucchi.
James is interested in anything physics related! He chose to work in photonics because of it’s breadth, and because of his interest in quantum mechanics. His project involves many-body quantum mechanics calculations, which is what he is primarily interested in. James generally enjoys any maths-heavy physics and computational physics.
